Plangrid

the power of collaborative user testing

The Client

Coffee Meets Bagel is a multi-million dollar dating app, founded and run by three sisters. Together they set out to create a dating app that was different from the rest—one that aimed to create authentic connections by focusing specifically on the dating experience of women.

The Challenge

Plangrid needed extra design support on one of their important new products, Field Reports. Field Reports are an essential part of any construction process, often used daily to ensure safety in the workplace. However, up until now most field reports were filled out and submitted by paper. While this process was painful, the construction industry is slow to change and many users were wary of new technology.

“There is no such thing as “good enough” here. We only build things to last.”

Understanding the User

Our job in joining forces with Plangrid, was to gain a deeper understanding of how people in the construction industry were currently using field reports. We hoped to learn customer pain points in order to create a better solution on Plangrid’s platform.

Pixelfat worked with the Field Reports team to structure a two week research project that would identify those pain points.

 Working together

Using a common interview script, the entire team took part in interviewing 14 different representative customers. We then synthesized the raw data and identified and rated common pain points. Because the entire team worked together on the research project, they were able to easily align on a product roadmap that prioritized solving for the biggest customer pain points.

Research = Results

We did our homework, and it paid off. The research we conducted allowed us to focus on the product pain points and prioritize accordingly. Over the following months, we saw user engagement steadily rise as a direct result.
